since i moved to LA i’ve only gotten back to NYC a couple times, so i savor any chance i get to revisit my old stomping grounds. found myself in the city for a weekend and had to squeeze everything into it. ended up having one of the most amazing quintessential new york experiences, straight out of a sex in the city episode. full recap vid on ig linked below plus my suggestions for great food, a bit of culture and superior relaxation below!
great food – i had so much amazing food when i was in new york, no surprise there, but there were a couple standouts. first was Dirty French. literally even their bread was to die for, but the one thing you absolutely must get when you go is the oysters bourguignon. i literally was drooling and was seriously considering drinking the butter. they remind me of the charbroiled oysters you get in new orleans – the perfect combo of garlic, butter and parmesan. a close runner up was the bone marrow. the second restaurant is Lamia, a seafood restaurant that offers bottomless brunch and sophisticated bites. they have fresh seafood beautifully showcased at the bar which features an installation of champagne bottles and flowers. the entire restaurant is under the sea themed, but classy, which adds to the experience. we had the oysters, the lobster roll and asked for grilled shrimp on the side (pro-tip ask for the lobster roll butter on these too) and everything was delicious!
a bit of culture – nyc arguably has some of the best museums in the world so i had to soak up a bit of culture while i was in town. i visited the MOMA first and i’m sad to say i was very underwhelmed by the installations and found myself rushing through the exhibits so i could head to happy hour. with my thirst for culture unquenched, i decided to check out another museum and ended up at the Whitney. soooo much more what i was looking for! i made a little reel because i can def show you better than i can tell you!
superior relaxation – spa days are pretty much a necessity for me so i had to check out the Well since I’ve been hearing such amazing things. def believe the hype! literally the best spa i’ve ever been to. first of all their shop upstairs is super cute – i even bought a hair clip and it was only $20 which i felt was fair. before my massage i went in the sauna and when i came out i saw that they had a big tray of ice with cold wet towels to cool you off afterwards. genius! it’s the small things i swear lol. then it was time for my 90-min massage. the massage room itself was beautiful and they have heated tables, but what i really loved was when my masseuse used towels to lift my shoulders up and create space for my boobs – usually i have to squirm around to find a position that lets me lay flat comfortably but with her set up i was so comfortable and relaxed which set the tone for the experience. she gave me the most amazing massage and i left feeling totally rejuvinated. highly suggest giving them a visit!
be sure to check out these spots if you’re ever in nyc!
